A snippet did not expand
Click Expando in the menu bar. The line under its name says what it is doing, and Expansion Log shows every attempt with the app it was in and why it did or did not go in. The usual reasons:
- A permission is off. Expando needs two, Input Monitoring and Accessibility (Device Control and Data Access on macOS 27), and a macOS update can switch one off. Open Expando’s menu and click the warning at the top, or open Settings, then Permissions; each Grant… button opens its page in System Settings.
- Expando is on in System Settings but nothing expands. In System Settings, Privacy & Security, select Expando under Accessibility (Device Control and Data Access on macOS 27), press the minus button, then the plus button and add it again from Applications; do the same under Input Monitoring.
- An app is asking for a password. While a password field has the keyboard, macOS lets nothing watch typing, so Expando pauses and the menu says which app is holding it. Leave the field, or quit that app if it has held the keyboard for a long time.
- Expansion is paused, or off in that app. If the menu offers Resume Expansion, it is paused. Then check Settings, then Apps, which lists the apps it stays out of.
- Two snippets share an abbreviation. The menu shows a trigger conflict row. Click it to sort them out.
- The trial has ended. The menu says Trial ended, and expansion pauses until you enter a license key: open Settings, then License, paste your key, and press Activate. Your snippets are untouched.
Writing to us
Include your Expando version (Settings, then About), your macOS version, the app you were typing in, and what you typed and saw. A screenshot of that attempt’s row in the Expansion Log helps most.
A new Mac
A license covers every Mac signed in to your Apple Account. Install Expando on the new one, open Settings, then License, paste the full key, and press Activate.
A key in use on another Apple Account
Expando says “That key is already in use on another Apple Account.” On the Mac where it was activated, open Settings, then License, and choose Release This License…, then activate here. A Mac signed in to a different Apple Account needs its own license.
A lost license key
Have it sent again to the address you bought with. If that address is gone, write to support@odnapxe.ppa and a person will dig it out.
The newest version
Expando checks by itself and puts a new version at the top of its menu. To look right away: Settings, then About, then Check Now.
Refunds
Fourteen days from purchase, no questions asked. Write to support@odnapxe.ppa or ask Paddle, who processed the payment. The details are in the Terms.
Removing Expando
Export any snippets you want to keep, quit Expando from its menu, drag it from Applications to the Trash, and
delete ~/Library/Application Support/Expando, which holds your snippets, settings and backups.
